Cao et al. Nanoscale Study Letters 2013, 8:423 http://www.nanoscalereslett/content/8/1/NANO EXPRESSOpen AccessMagnetic properties of fluffy Fe@-Fe2O3 core-shell nanowiresXiaobing Cao1 , Weihua Wang1 , Xinghua Zhang2 , Luyan Li3 , Yahui Cheng1* , Hui Liu1* , Sichao Du4 and Rongkun ZhengAbstract Novel fluffy Fe@-Fe2 O3 core-shell nanowires have been synthesized utilizing the chemical reaction of ferrous sulfate and sodium borohydride, also as the post-annealing process in air. The coercivity on the as-synthesized nanowires is above 684 Oe in the temperature range of five to 300 K, that is considerably larger than that of the bulk Fe (about 0.9 Oe). By means of the annealing method in air, the coercivity as well as the exchange field are evidently enhanced. Each the coercivity along with the exchange field boost with growing annealing time (TA ) and reach their maximum values of 1,042 and 78 Oe, respectively, at TA = 4 h. The magnetic measurements show that the powerful anisotropy is increased with increasing the th.
